Our aim is to create diamonds you’re proud to give and wear, and to make our people proud of the diamonds they create and sell. To achieve that goal, we insist our diamonds are not only beautiful but are also responsibly sourced and contribute economically to the communities in which they are made.
We are Leo Schachter Diamonds, the company behind The LEO. We have been at the forefront of responsible sourcing in the diamond and jewelry supply chain and we are a certified member of the Responsible Jewelry Council. This means we are strongly committed to and are independently audited against the RJC Code of Practices (COP) – an international standard on responsible business practices for diamonds and jewelry. This COP addresses human rights, labor rights, environmental impact, mining practices, product disclosure and many more important topics in our supply chain.
We are also strong supporters of the Diamond Empowerment Fund, a global organization whose mission is to support initiatives that develop and empower people in diamond communities worldwide. The Diamond Empowerment Fund created the Diamonds Do Good Initiative to inspire consumers with the great stories behind diamonds, and our Partner, Elliot Tannenbaum is a board member of this initiative.
Every supplier we work with is asked to sign our Leo Schachter Supplier Protocols. This agreement demands of every supplier with whom we work that they maintain the highest standards in supply chain management, ensuring that all diamonds are ethically sourced.
Our Commitments
Empowering Our Communities
For nearly 20 years, the Leo Schachter Diamond factory in Molepolole, Botswana has provided valuable careers, community support, professional development, medical care and economic stability to the community we share. It’s part of our conscious effort to make a lasting, positive impact through our diamonds by empowering others to achieve financial independence and live richer, fuller, more rewarding lives. We have since expanded this commitment to several additional communities both locally and throughout the world, further providing economic opportunities and brighter futures for our neighbors.
Ethically Sourced and Responsibly Mined
Every mined diamond in the LEO range is ethically sourced, coming from conflict-free world class mines that adhere to the highest social, environmental and quality practices, principles and standards of the Kimberley Process. Every Leo Legacy Lab-Created Diamond is, by definition, both conflict-free and ethically-sourced. These are values we strongly uphold, and something each of our customers would expect from Leo Schachter Diamonds.
A Responsible Company
Our values as a company are all about responsibility – to our customers, to our teams all around the world and, of course, to those who cherish our diamonds. Listen to Elliot Tannenbaum, our Partner, in conversation with Iris Van der Veken, Executive Director of the Responsible Jewelry Council, talk about how we view our responsibility and the actions we are taking to live up to our promises.
